When using PowerPoint it is important that you make your presentations stand out above the rest. There are many ways you can do this and one such way is the use of background music. This article is written to give you an idea on how you can add some background music to your PowerPoint presentation. Here is how you can do this.

One of the first things you need to do if find the right music that fits your presentation. This music can either be from your local collection of CDs, or you can download a sample from the internet. Overall the music needs to reflect your presentation for optimal effect.

The next thing you may need to look at is making sure your sample music is supported by the program. PowerPoint can usually run file types as MIDI, WAV or MP3. When choosing a sample makes sure that it is in one of these formats to ensure that it will work.

When it comes to adding the music you have chosen to your presentation you can now go to the top of the screen where it says ‘insert’ and click it. When it opens there should be something that says ‘movies and sounds’ click this, then click on ‘sound from file’. This should allow you to find the music you have chosen and click on it.

There may be a pop up window that comes up allowing you to choose whether you want the music to play automatically, or when you click on it. Choose the setting you wish for it to play as. The automatic choice automatically plays the music and the clip when you start the slide show. The ‘when you click it’ choice will play the music when you click on the icon shown.

If you wish to set options for your presentation and music, go to ‘slide show’ at the top of the screen in the menu bar, and then ‘custom animation’, then clicking on the drop down menu will enable you to fix your options for your song.

Timing is also an important part when it comes to adding the music. If you want to make sure your timing is right go to ‘timing’ on the song drop down menu, here you should be able to find all the necessary items that will give your timing the effect that you need.

Lastly to check your effects, click on the ‘effects options’ in the song drop down menu. This will allow you to check the volume and any effects that you wish to add or fix with your presentation.

So as you can see it isn’t as hard as you think it is. When it comes to adding your background music, why not follow these simple tips to help you get starter. Remember to always check your presentation before you show it to anyone to ensure that it is right.
