Google’s smart phone- Nexus One: Features, Specifications, Availability and Price

End of the long waiting, search engine giant Google has unvield their first hardware device a smart phone called Nexus One in market. The device is basically an Android OS, manufactured by leading handset manufactures HTC  for Google.

The dimension of this good looking phone is -width 59.8mm, Height-119 mm, thickness-11.5mm and weight 130 gm with battery (100gm without battery). This phone is with  a 3.7 Inch wide screen  touch  display of 800 x 400 pixel and a high contrast ratio of 1,000,00:1.

A 5 Mega pixel camera with inbuilt LED flash and auto focus will enable to take high quality pictures. The Nexus One supports four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900) and three 3G/UMTS Bands – 1/4/8 (2100/AWS/900). These cover most major GSM mobile providers worldwide.

1400 mAh battery can provide a talk time up to 10 hours on 2G, Up to 7 hours on 3G– standby time of up to 290 hours on 2G and  up to 250 hours on 3G.

The heart of this phone is 1 GHz, Qualcomm QSD 8250 processor, powerful enough to handle multiple operations and mobile games. The device is embedded with 512 MB flash, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB micro SD card expandable upto 32 GB.

The device is bundled with special advanced features like Assisted global positioning system (AGPS) receiver, Cell tower and Wi-Fi positioning, Digital compass, Accelerometer, Second microphone for active noise cancellation, Proximity sensor and a Light sensor .

This phone support almost all graphical, audio and video formats . Presently Nexus keyboard supports English (U.S), French (France), German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) languages and Display supports English (U.S), French (France), German, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Korean, Japanese, Russian languages.

Presently this phone is available in US and will be shipped to UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. The device is unlocked and can be used with any GSM network world wide.

Availability in India

The Indian customers have to wait a little bit more to purchase this phone. Google’s site says “sorry the Nexus One is not available in your country”.  It is not understood why Google is  neglecting the world’s biggest handset market –  India. Since this is an unlocked device, which can be purchased from US and can be used in India but the warranty matters.
