Sony has always been counted among the top Smartphone developing companies of the world, which has provided us astonishing products from time to time and has brought an appreciable change in the industry of technology with its recently released gadgets. The company has achieved one more milestone by recently announcing the launch of world’s first water proof Smartphone, Sony Xperia Z. The company announced the launch of this phone at annual Consumer Electronics Show earlier in January, which eventually became the most interesting announcement at CES this year. The device seems to take a definite lead on other Xperia members because of availability of better features in quite similar range. Let’s have an insight of specifications of this mobile.

  • Processor (Quad-Core)

The device possesses a Krait’s marvelous S4 Quad Core processor of 1.5 GHz of Qualcomm Snapdragon. It has a chipset of Qualcomm under number MDM9215M / APQ8064 with GPU naming Adreno 320 and two GB of RAM. Apart from providing better gaming experience the processor also supports enhanced encoding programs.


  • Operating System (Jelly Bean)

The gadget is served by Android with its v4.1.2 version, to which the sources say that it will be soon upgraded to 4.2 Jelly Bean after its launch. It will be holding HTML5 browser. The platform provides access to a vast number of applications and widgets through App store.

It features a five inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with 1080×1920 pixels and multi-touch up to ten fingers. It has scratch resistance glass with mobile BRAVIA engine 2. The device holds a good storage proficiency of 16 GB which has a scope of expansion up to 32 GB with the insertion of a micro SD card externally.

It possesses a 13.1 MP rear camera having resolution of 3096×4128 pixels with autofocus capability and LED flash. It provides HD video recording experience with 1080 pixels and continuous autofocus. The primary camera has many other sensory functions like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, image stabilization, and HDR and sweep panorama. The facing camera is 2.2 MP with 1080 pixel strength.

The equipment can withhold single micro SIM with the availability of 2G GSM, 3G HSPCDA and 4G LTE networks. The band types will get clearer on its launch.

The firm has challenged that the Smartphone will work even after submerging it for half an hour under one meter of water. This feature was the most-talked-thing in CES wiping out all the other announcements.

It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity features with Bluetooth also. It is endowed with Accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor and a compass.


The Smartphone is expected to release on 28 February 2013 according to some tech-masters while the official date has not yet announced by the organization. Preorders are already being taken by the company pertaining to which the firm has announced to present Sony MDR-R1 headphones for free. Costing around 529 Euros, the device will be certainly accepted by the mass because of its promising features.
